Gold Standard

As part of ELL’s primary initiatives, it works to provide valuable information to consumers, manufacturers and trade associations and government regulatory agencies on best-in-class manufacturers taking unprecedented steps to ensure safety in the processing environment by minimizing the risk of cross contamination with allergenic ingredients.

ELL titles these types of manufacturers as “Gold Standard” companies. Profiles will be created through interviews with these select manufacturers to detail the safety procedures and guidelines implemented to minimize the risk of cross contamination.

ELL recognizes the value of this information in influencing safe product selections when food allergies exist and in educating the manufacturing community on alternative procedures and programs to incorporate into the manufacturing process to control the risk of cross contamination with allergen ingredients during food processing.

Look for the first set of “Gold Standard” Company Profiles to be posted in late Fall, 2009.

In addition to its “Gold Standard” Company Profiles, ELL also lists featured manufacturers currently serving the food allergy community.
