Local Businesses Join Crusade to Educate the Community to Protect its Youth
The ELL Foundation is sponsoring a holiday program that invites local businesses to fund much needed food allergy education and training services throughout hundreds of communities across the country.
Given the aggressive growth of life-threatening food allergies among children, the need for universally comprehensive education and training information is critical. This growing epidemic affects more than 3 million children across the country today and accounts for more than 30,000 annual emergency room visits. The incidence of peanut allergy diagnoses, for example, has risen 55% in just the past 5 years.
Since food allergic children can experience a life-threatening reaction through ingestion, inhalation or inadvertent contact with an allergen, vigilance is required. Roughly one in five children with food allergies experiences an allergic reaction while at school.* Since there is no cure for food allergies today, education and training to avoid inadvertent contact with allergens and to create emergency response protocols is necessary to protect food allergic children.
The ELL Foundation manages the Protect Allergic Children (PAC) Food Allergy Safety Program, the leading, nationally recognized training service for schools, child care centers, hospitals, restaurants, camps/recreation centers and for food allergic families. Trainings are available online and in-person through a certified PAC Trainer.
ELL is inviting all corporations, retailers, restaurants, charitable organizations and community members interested in participating with this holiday giving program to make a tax-deductible contribution towards trainings throughout this community by visiting www.ellfoundation.org.
All funders will be thanked through a listing within local training materials.
